ABOUT COSAFA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship, also known as the 2024 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship due to sponsorship, marks the twelfth edition of this annual international women’s football tournament.

Organized by COSAFA, it features the national teams of Southern Africa and will take place in Gqeberha, South Africa, from October 22 to 2 November, 2024.

Malawi enters the tournament as the defending champions, having secured their first title in the last edition.

Tournament Format

The competition will commence with a group stage consisting of four groups—two with four teams and two with three. The top team from each group will advance to the semifinals, with the winners progressing to the final. Notably, there will be no third-place match for the first time since 2020.

Participation

This year’s championship will see a record 14 COSAFA Member Associations participating, marking the first instance of full membership participation. Among the 14 teams, 12 participated in the 2023 edition, while Mauritius returns after a one-year absence and Seychelles makes its debut.

Venues

The tournament will be hosted in Gqeberha, featuring two venues within the city; Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Gelvandale Stadium plus one in the nearby iBhayi township; Wolfson Stadium.
